Number 6 Logan Circle, Washington, DC
1987
A poor choice of stone in the original façade nearly led to the collapse of this historic property dating back to 1878. Rescue required a stone-by-stone documentation and replacement with a more durable material, compatible in texture and range. The process required not only unusually detailed documentation, but also developing methodology for the restoration itself. The American Institute of Architects honored the building with their award for Historic Preservation and Architecture.
