Art collectors and nature lovers, the owners of this house wanted to extend their living area in such a way as to bring the outdoors in. We achieved this by adding an "outdoor living room" and employing glass panels as the exterior wall. These, in turn, open onto a flagstone patio that smoothes the transition from, and creates a more harmonious relationship between, inside and outside.
In addition to the architectural renovation, this project also consisted of several new interior elements, paramount among them a sculpture-like limestone fireplace.
Finally, we designed an addition of a studio/art gallery. Introducing light as a design element, we created an elegant and inviting space by carefully placing two cornerless walls that acted as freestanding screens. Translucent panels formed northward-facing skylights as well as vertical panels, thus permitting diffused light to penetrate in an even, shadowless glow.
