This space was created through the conversion of an early 1900's wagon, and later a car repair garage, into five open loft spaces. Remnants of the garage, the old gear wheels used to lift cars, heavy planks, rough brick, cast iron, were preserved and given their due, contributing to the texture of joining today with the building's history.
For maximum openness, we adopted what might be considered an office planning approach: separation of "core" functions such as bathrooms, kitchen, utilities, and closets to one side, leaving each unit's remaining volume, from the front to the back, some 60 feet, unobstructed.
Each owner has been able to redesign their space, even seasonally, to take advantage of changes in light or function, just by moving a few items of furniture. All units have access to generous roof terraces.
