Our design for this new stucco and wood house focused on providing plenty of room (7,000 square feet) for the homeowners and their guests, yet in a way that the house feels warm and inviting rather than huge and imposing.
We did this by articulating the house into three distinct but unified sections: an entrance area with a guest bedroom, a larger living area, and a garage and service area. A distinctive curved wall extends through the entire house, creating a division between private space and social space yet tying the three sections together.
The house is also unusual in its perspective. Taking into consideration the street and the sun, we "pivoted" the house to have a greater dynamic with the street and to allow light to penetrate throughout the house.
