This Italian clothing storethe first of its kind in the U.S.faced a distinctive design challenge: Its location was a reverse corner inside the entranceway to a large commercial plaza, with minimal street exposure to the passers-by.
The solution lay in effectively bringing the store to the street, by fusing the entranceway and the window display into a glass-bound, harmonic "walkway." A descending ceiling height, from 12 feet to 9 feet, further eases the transition from outside to inside.
Inside the store, lighting and architecture define two pivot pointsone for women's wear, the other for men's. Stucco walls, Italian tile, wood floors and glass display tables combine to create an environment that is at once rustic and urban, warm and sophisticated.
