In expanding the size of this synagogue's sanctuary, fellowship hall and educational facilities, Shinberg.Levinas used natural materials and symbolic forms to create a deeply spiritual yet functional space. For instance, anticipating the congregation's future growth and desire for multi-use spaces, the design uses movable partitions to maximize flexibility.
B'nai Tzedek's lower level provides 16 classrooms and nine nurseries, along with a recreation room and a multi-purpose room. Again, these spaces can be resized to accommodate changing needs. Additionally, children may access the outdoor courtyard/sanctuary by way of a terrace that extends directly outward, lending the design an organic feeling that continually brings the congregation into contact with nature.
