This morning, Salo Levinas presented the session “Breaking the Box: The Changing DC Aesthetic” at the Facades+AM Conference in Washington, DC. Salo Levinas (Shinberg.Levinas Architects), Jeff Barber (Gensler), and Mide Akinsade (HOK) discussed change on façade aesthetic in a city where rectangular volumes of concrete and glass have been the standard. The three architects shared their work experience changing the standard façade by using different types of massing, materials, and function.
