Shinberg.Levinas Winners of 3 AIA 2017 PV Design Awards

We are pleased to inform you that our projects: Paul Public Charter School, Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School - Sonia Gutierrez Campus, and  Mathewson Residence were selected as Award-Winning designs in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2017 Potomac Valley  Design Awards competition.

The Awards Ceremony was held at the Silver Spring Civic Building last Thursday, October 19th, 2017. Award certificates were presented to the Architect, Owner and General Contractor.

Here are excerpts from the Jury’s comments:

“The linkage between the new addition and the existing building is delicately handled, the way the gap frames the tower and joins the two masses. The architects got a lot of mileage with limited resources.” - About Paul Public Charter School -

“This project is very elegant in its placement in the landscape. The lifting and cantilevering of the single mass made the building feel light and airy. Gorgeous staircase detail and the simple interior palette complemented the composition of the project.” - About Mathewson Residence –

“The jury liked how the interior atrium lobby space stitched together the two wings of the school. The interiors are very strong - light, bright and lofty with an interesting sculptural staircase that changes the way people interact with the space.” - About Carlos Rosario Int’l Culinary School -
