Exciting News!!! Woods Residence by Shinberg.Levinas Architects was given a Citation Award in Residential Architecture by the AIA Maryland Chapter. The 2016 Awards Ceremony took place yesterday @ the PriceModern Building in Baltimore, MD.
Award submissions were evaluated by a panel of distinguished architects from AIA Kentucky. The jury selected 25 award-winning projects from a field of 129 professional entries. This award is an extraordinary recognition to our commitment with good architecture.
Here are the Jury Comments about our Residential Award:
"The Woods Residence presents an elegant design solution that addresses a complex renovation and expansion project. The resulting design has a well-defined conceptual parti that bridge between interior and exterior to form a series of courtyards that extend the lived condition beyond the volume of the house to the outdoors. In doing so, the designer has reinforced the existing contextual relationships by providing the owner's with a range of multi-functional outdoor spaces. These spaces simultaneously frame the surrounding landscape and provide apertures to the core of the house. The jury also commented on the modernistic use of materials that both contrasts the heavily vegetated surroundings and presents a sympathetic dialogue with the renovated open spaces of the house."
